Quarantine Q & A with Lacy Dagen
July 17, 2020 | Women's Gymnastics
Our gymnastics quarantine series continues with a Q & A with senior Lacy Dagen. Earlier this week, it was announced that Dagen had received a sixth year of eligibility and will return for one more season at Oregon State.
Q: Where have you spent the quarantine?
A: Half at home in Pleasanton, Calif. and half in Corvallis.
Q: What is the biggest positive to come from your quarantine?
A: All of the recipes I've learned from TikTok … lol. Just kidding! The added family fun, the time in the sunshine and all of the extra naps.
Q: What is your preferred work out location during quarantine?
A: Either the home gym my dad created in our garage or the sports fields by our house.
Q: Abs or cardio?
A: Both – let me know if you have any good HIIT workouts!
Q: What TV series have you enjoyed the most during the quarantine?
A: Workin' Moms on Netflix
Q: What have you done during the quarantine that you didn't do during normal life?
A: Figured out how to work out like a "normal" person.
Q: Have you done anything to improve yourself during quarantine?
A: I've definitely focused on my nutrition a lot more. Do you know how many smoothies actually taste good with spinach in them?
Q: What was your favorite moment from the 2020 gymnastics season?
A: Probably when I got my career-high on the beam – a 9.975 (against Stanford)!
Q: What do you want to be when you grow up?
A: An NCAA gymnastics coach! I can't wait.
Q: Is there a skill you're looking forward to learning during the offseason?
A: This grandma is sticking to what she knows.
Q: How did remote college work out for you?
A: I've taken a lot of online classes throughout college, so the remote part wasn't too big of a change for me. It was mostly just challenging to leave my favorite people on such a sad note.
Q: What do you look forward to the most about getting back to Corvallis (or other people getting back to Corvallis)?
A: Seeing my bestie girls! I think everything we've been through these past few months will make us a stronger team moving forward. I'm hopeful that we'll have the opportunity to demonstrate that soon!
Q: Recently, you were granted a sixth year of eligibility. Did you feel like you have unfinished business? What is your goal for 2021?
A: Honestly, when I was first offered the extra year, it was hard to wrap my brain around it. I couldn't believe I was given an opportunity to do something that so many gymnasts from my class arouind the country also wanted to do. The business I want to finish isn't only for me, but for them too – a postseason. My goal for 2021 is to embrace a bigger leadership role.
