April 25, 2020 | Football
CORVALLIS – Oregon State offensive lineman Blake Brandel has been selected in the sixth round, 203rd overall, by the Minnesota Vikings on Saturday in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Brandel lettered for the Beavers from 2016-19, and started 48 consecutive games for Oregon State. That streak is the third-longest in school history. His 48 total games played, meanwhile are tied for the third-most ever by a Beaver.
The Milwaukie, Ore., native was an All-Pac-12 Second Team selection in 2019 by the league's coaches, the Associated Press and Phil Steele. His 93.1 pass blocking rating by Pro Football Focus ranked first in the country. He gave up just one sack in 2019 and was part of an offensive line that helped Oregon State running backs top 100 yards individually seven times.
A graduate with a degree in business administration, Brandel was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention team in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Season ticket prices for the 2020 season remain the same as for 2019, with an additional game and the 124th Civil War. For information on season tickets please call 541-737-2050 or online at osubeavers.com.
Brandel joins the list of Oregon State offensive linemen chosen this century, which includes Sean Harlow (2017, 4th round, Atlanta), Isaac Seumalo (2016, 3rd round, Philadelphia), Andy Levitre (2009, 2nd round, Buffalo), Roy Schuening (2008, 5th round, St. Louis), Adam Koets (2007, 6th round, New York Giants), Doug Nienhuis (2005, 7th round, Seattle) and Mitch White (2001, 6th round, New Orleans).
Brandel is the third Beaver all-time to be selected by Minnesota, joining Bob Grim in 1964 and Scott Crichton in 2014.
