
Grant Willits Named Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week

SAN FRANCISCO – As announced by the Pac-12 Conference on Wednesday, Oregon State Wrestling's redshirt sophomore Grant Willits has been named Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week for his performances against Campbell and Presbyterian.
Willits picked up two wins this past weekend in Buies Creek, N.C., where he helped the Beavers cruise to a 40-6 victory over Presbyterian by earning a 6-1 decision. In the following match against Campbell, Willits defeated No. 9-ranked Josh Heil with an impressive 7-1 decision including a four-point nearfall and a riding time point.
Willits moved to 16-7 and 34-16 on his career, with a 7-1 mark in dual meets heading into Friday's match against Wyoming. In his second varsity season with the Beavers, Willits has collected wins against Simon Fraser, George Mason, Michigan, Northern Colorado and Arizona State.
Throughout the season, Willits has remained consistent at 141 pounds by racking up a total of 11 decisions and three technical falls.
A returning NCAA Qualifier, Willits is currently ranked as high as No. 25 by TrackWrestling.
Willits will take on Wyoming's Trevor Jeffries (18-9) in Friday's dual as he tries to capture his sixth straight victory.
This is the first Pac-12 Conference weekly award for the redshirt sophomore hailing from Pubelo, Colo.
The Pac-12 Conference will announce a Wrestler of the Week each Wednesday from Jan. 8 to Feb. 26 leading up to the Pac-12 Championships, set to take place in Palo Alto, Calif. on March 7, 2020. For information about tickets, visit here.
