Oregon State Donors Support Student-Athletes with Record Numbers in 2019

Corvallis - Oregon State Athletics announced a historic fundraising year in support of OSU student-athletes. Generous alumni and friends contributed $25.9 million during the 2019 fiscal year through Our Beaver Nation, the fundraising arm of OSU Athletics. More than 8,500 gift commitments from donors brought the fundraising total to the second highest ever, just behind the 2015 Victory through Valley (Valley Football Center) campaign that saw two gifts totaling $25 million.

Donors in the recently completed year supported 25 scholarships with gifts to the Everyday Champions Scholarship program and 12 new endowments. More than 400 new donors responded to the Build the DAM annual fund campaign, which supports educational, leadership development, and student-athlete wellness initiatives.Â

"OSU Athletics is fortunate to have wonderful alumni and friends who step up year after year in support of our student-athletes," Scott Barnes, Vice President and Director of Athletics, said. "This group consistently partners with our department to holistically develop our student-athletes, further preparing them for life after intercollegiate athletics and enhancing their experience while in Corvallis."

The 2019 academic year saw a record number of commitments to athletics, including an all-time-high 63 gifts of $50,000 or more. Many of these gifts helped to fund the $3.5 million P. Wayne Valley Sports Performance Center renovation, a $2.3 million renovation of the women's basketball locker room, significant upgrades at the OSU Softball Complex, and the completion of a $2.6 million Goss Stadium renovation/expansion. "Philanthropic support allows us to fund scholarships for our students, invest in our facilities and infrastructure, and promote long-term financial sustainability for the department through endowment," said Senior Associate Athletics Director Alex Gary. "The impact Beaver Nation has had on our student-athlete community this past year is incredible."
