Boss Helps US Men’s National Team to Gold Cup Quarterfinals

USMNT faces Curacao Sunday
CORVALLIS – Oregon State men's soccer coach Terry Boss and the US Men's National Team will face off with Curacao Sunday evening at 5 p.m. in the quarterfinal round of the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The USMNT finished atop Group D, winning all three of its group-stage matches and outscoring its opponents a combined 11-0 along the way. Should the United States earn a victory on Sunday, it would advance to a semi-final match on July 3, prior to the Gold Cup Final on July 7.
Boss, who first joined head coach Gregg Berhalter's staff for January Camp, earned Pac-12 Coach of the Year honors for the 2018 season, after leading the Beavers to a win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and a second-place finish in the Pac-12.
Overall, the Beavers finished last season with a record of 11-6-3, and saw seven players earn all-conference honors, including Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Sofiane Djeffal. In addition, Boss coached Djeffal and seniors Don Tchilao and Hassani Dotson to All-Region recognition. Tchilao and Dotson were both selected in the second round of the Major League Soccer SuperDraft.
Prior to joining Oregon State, Boss, a native of Philomath, Ore., spent four seasons at the University of Virginia, two as the Cavaliers' associate head coach. He helped the Cavs advance to the NCAA Tournament all four years, including winning the national championship in 2014.
Boss played seven seasons as a professional goalkeeper before retiring in 2012. His last three years were spent with the Seattle Sounders of Major League Soccer where he picked up 28 saves and three shutouts, and posted a 6-2-1 record. During his time in Seattle, he played with Kasey Keller, one of the premier American goalkeepers of all time. As a Sounder, Boss won three consecutive US Open Cup titles and played against some of the best clubs in the world, including Chelsea, Barcelona, Manchester United, Celtic, Chivas de Guadalajara and Boca Juniors.
