Slocum, Goodman to Compete in 3x3 Championships

Duo will head to Las Vegas for USA Basketball event this week
CORVALLIS – Oregon State guards Destiny Slocum and Aleah Goodman will both take part in the 2019 USA Basketball 3x3 National Championships, USA Basketball announced Monday.

The duo will be among a group of eight players that will compete in a two-day minicamp prior to the event, before being split into two teams. A total of 15 teams will compete in the Championships, which will take place May 3-4 in Las Vegas, Nev. In addition to the lure of a national championship, the event also will serve as the 2019 USA Basketball Women's 3x3 National Team trials. All eligible athletes will be in consideration for selection to the 2019 USA Women's 2019 U.S. Pan American Games 3x3 Basketball Team.

Slocum led the Beavers with an average of 15.4 points per game this season. She shot 45.6 percent from the field, recorded 153 assists on the campaign, and earned All-Pac-12 honors at the end of the regular season. Slocum was named to the watch lists for the Wooden Award and the Naismith Trophy.

The digital communication arts major is the sixth player in Oregon State history with multiple point-assist double doubles, and scored 20 points 12 times this season. Slocum was also selected as a Pac-12 Academic Second Team honoree this season.

Goodman had an outstanding sophomore season for the Beavers, averaging 10.7 points per game, on her way to Pac-12 Sixth Player of the Year honors. The sophomore has scored in double-figures 17 times, and earned ESPNW National Player of the Week honors on Feb. 25.

Goodman finished the 2018-19 campaign 46th in the nation in 3-point percentage at 39.4 percent, and averaged nearly 12 points per game in conference play. The guard was also named All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention.

As a team, the Beavers finished the 2018-19 season with a record of 26-8, one of the top-five records in program history. Oregon State made its fourth consecutive Sweet 16, and earned an NCAA Tournament berth for the sixth-straight year.
