
Ten Beavers Garner Pac-12 Academic Accolades

SAN FRANCISCO – Mariana Colussi-Pelaez and Lacy Dagen were among 10 Oregon State gymnasts recognized for their academics when the 2019 Pac-12 Conference Women's Gymnastics All-Academic teams were announced Wednesday.
OSU's ten all-academic honorees represent the most in the conference in 2019.
It is the third time Colussi-Pelaez has been named to the all-academic first team and the first for Dagen.
Joining them are Savanna Force, Mary Jacobsen and McKenna Singley each of whom is on the all-academic second team. It is the third such award for Singley and first for Force and Jacobsen, who has twice been received honorable mention.
Five OSU gymnasts – Halli Briscoe, Lena Greene, Maela Lazaro, Isis Lowery and Colette Yamaoka – received honorable mention accolades. It is the second for all-academic selection for Briscoe, Greene, Lazaro and Lowery.
To be eligible for selection to an all-academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and have participated in at least 50-percent of competitions in the regular season.
Colussi-Pelaez, majoring in microbiology with a pre-med option and minors in chemistry and Spanish, is one of just two three-time Pac-12 All-Academic First Team selections on this year's academic team. The senior has performed on the uneven bars in all 11 meets this season tying her personal-best mark of 9.90. She also joined the balance beam lineup at midseason performing on the event for the past six meets twice establishing a career-best of 9.850.
Dagen, a redshirt junior studying sociology with a minor in business and entrepreneurship, has bounced around the vault lineup throughout the season, but has appeared on the event in all 11 meets scoring a season-best of 9.825. In addition, Dagen has performed in the balance beam lineup 10 times tallying career-best marks of 9.90 on two occasions. The former Florida transfer was also named to the SEC Academic Honor in 2017 and the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll in 2016.
Force, a sophomore who studies kinesiology, has become a key cog in Oregon State's floor exercise lineup setting a career-high with a 9.925 early in the season. She has battled for a spot in the vault lineup earning the call three times in 2019.
Jacobsen, who is majoring in computer science, leads the team having performed 32 routines in 2019. She has been part of the vault and bars lineups in all 11 meets and in the floor lineup in 10. This year, the senior has set a career-high on vault with a 9.950 and tied her personal-mark of 9.90 on the floor. In addition, she's has posted a season-best 9.875 on the bars twice. She has received Pac-12 academic honor mention in 2017 and 2018.
Singley, a senior studying sociology with an option in crime and justice, has been a mainstay in three lineups this year. Singley set a career-high with a 9.925 on the floor and tied her high with a 9.875 on the vault. Last week, Singley set a season-best with a 9.850 on the beam.
Briscoe, a junior studying business administration in OSU's Honors College, has been featured near the end of the Beavers' bars lineup all season. She has tied her career-high mark of 9.875 twice in 2019 and has scored 9.825 or better nine times.
Greene, a junior studying bioengineering with a minor in business and entrepreneurship, missed the early part of the season due to injury but has come back to establish herself as an important cog to the vault lineup. Greene has a season-high 9.850 on the vault and also made her debut on the uneven bars earlier this year.
Lazaro, a BioHealth sciences major with an option in pharmacy and a minor in chemistry, has been regular near the end of the balance beam lineup throughout the 2019 campaign. The junior set a career-best 9.925 on the beam and has four scores of 9.90 or better to her credit this year.
Lowery, a digitial communication arts major, has been a fan favorite on the floor exercise since arriving in Corvallis. A junior, Lowery has twice tallied a career-high 9.950 on the floor and also has been in the bars lineup in all 12 meets establishing a career-high of 9.90. She also made four appearances in the beam lineup earlier this season notching a career-best 9.850.
Yamaoka, who studies biology with a pre-med option, has been a regular in the Beavers' bars lineup throughout 2019, making her collegiate debut against Utah during the second week of the season. The sophomore set a career-high with a 9.80 at Pac-12 Championships last weekend.
