McShane Notches School Record at Don Kirby Classic

CORVALLIS – Lindsay McShane got the busy weekend for the Oregon State track and field team started off on a high note, setting the school record in the weight throw on the first day of the Don Kirby Classic.
McShane broke the record previously held by Melissa Ausman with a throw of 56-feet, 4-inches on her final attempt. She placed first in her heat, just missing out on a spot in the finals. Sydney Guthrie-Baker recorded the fifth-best mark of all time for the Beavers with a throw of 51-feet, 7.25 inches.
The Beavers had an impressive showing in the long jump with Ann Wingeleth placing third in her heat, while Saskia McNairy placed second. Wingeleth pushed her all-time best jump to 19-feet, 1.25-inches, and the No. 2 all-time mark. McNairy now holds the No. 4 spot on the leaderboards with a jump of 18-feet, 9.75-inches.
Lauren Miller had a first place finish in her heat of the 200 meters. Miller crossed the finish line in 25.15-seconds, just one hundredth of a second slower than her season-best.
McNairy placed fourth in her hear, but recorded the No. 5 time in the OSU history books with a time of 25.41 seconds. Tarisa Olinski had a great showing placing second in her heat with a time of 25.96-seconds, the No. 8 all-time finish.
Other all-time finishes by the Beavers at the Don Kirby Classic are as follows:
Another group of student-athletes have made the trip to Seattle again, with a few competing tonight at the Husky Classic.
Brigette Takeuchi had a great time in the 3,000 meters recording the No. 3 all-time finish for Oregon State in the event. Takeuchi placed 49th overall with a time of 9:30.89. Audrey Lookner finished No. 8 all-time with a finish of 9:40.10.
