Get To Know Jermar Jefferson
November 28, 2019 | Football
What aside from football do you enjoy most about Oregon State?
Jermar Jefferson: "I really like taking in the nature, fall leaves and all the colors, in the area."
Favorite class at Oregon State so far?
JJ: "I'd probably say my poetry class or my Writing 121 class. My mom was an English teacher when I was growing up and used to get on me about grammar so I've always enjoyed writing."
How would you describe what it's like to play for Coach Smith and Coach Pitre? Â
JJ: "I feel like they're both great coaches but have different personalities. Coach Smith is more of a laid back type of person while Coach Pitre is more of a hype, energetic type person."
Does your number mean anything to you?
JJ: "Coming in, I wanted No. 6 since it's a family number but when I got here I saw No. 22 and I just accepted it."
What would you be doing if you didn't play football?
JJ: "I've always wanted to be a firefighter or a music producer."
What was your first impression of Oregon State and Corvallis?
JJ: "Probably how I connected with the people so easily. It was easy to make friends with the students and players around campus."
What teammates do you hang out with away from the field the most?
JJ: "I hang with out with my roommates: Rheyha Munyagi Jr, Keishon Dawkins, John McCartan and Jesiah Irish. The one I hang out with the most is Rheya."
What are your impressions on the new uniforms?
JJ: "I think the uniforms are nice. They're a lot better than last year since they're tighter and they fit better."
If you could meet at historical figure, dead or alive, who would it be?
JJ: "I would say Michael Jackson."Â
Do you have any pregame superstitions?
JJ: "I usually just pray multiple times before games."
What life lessons has football taught you?
JJ: "Just working hard. It's taught me whether football or not, you have to work hard to get where you want to go in life."
What doors has football opened for you that you never thought would be possible?
JJ: "Football has done a lot for me. I've met a lot of new people and had the chance to go to Pac-12 Media Day and talk to Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart. Those were great opportunities to talk to two great players.
What does an Oregon State education mean to you?
JJ: "It means everything. My major is sociology so hopefully I can go into a field where I can teach and potentially work with special needs kids."
