October 09, 2019 | Football, Women's Volleyball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State Athletics is proud to announce Makenna Browne and Jordan Whittley have been named as October Student-Athletes of the Month.
Browne, a senior from Conifer, Colo., is a three-year letterwinner as a defensive specialist for the Beavers' volleyball team. Browne developed into a solid contributor last year as a junior and began the 2019 season as the team's primary back row player off the bench. She set career-bests this year with three aces and 14 digs at Colorado State. The Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team member from 2018 is studying biochemistry and molecular biology.
Whittley, a senior studying digital communication arts, transferred to Oregon State during the summer. The defensive tackle from Richmond, Calif. has accounted for three tackles, including two tackles-for-loss thus far in the 2019 campaign.
Student-athletes are selected each month and are coordinated by the Academics for Student-Athletes staff.
The OSU volleyball team is on the road this week visiting Washington on Friday and Washington State on Sunday. The Beavers return to play at Gill Coliseum next week when they host USC on Oct. 18 and UCLA on Oct. 20.
The Oregon State football team is home this Saturday to host Utah at 5 p.m. The game will air on Pac-12 Networks.
Single-game tickets for both programs are available at BeaverTickets.com, by calling 1-800-GO-BEAVS or by visiting the OSU Ticket Office.
