Beavers Set to Host Pac-12 Championships on Friday
October 28, 2019 | Women's Cross Country
CORVALLIS, Ore. – For the first time since 2007, Oregon State is prepped to host the Pac-12 Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships.
The league's 12 women's and 10 men's teams will converge in Monmouth, Ore., next Friday, Nov. 1 for the Pac-12 Championships. This year's title races will be contested at Ash Creek Preserve, the first dedicated cross country course to host the Conference's championship meet. The Championships will be televised live on Pac-12 Network for the third consecutive year with racing starting at 11 a.m. PT.
The Oregon State women look to build off of last year's performance where the team ran to their highest finish at the conference meet in program history. Sophomore Haley Wolf was the second Beaver to cross the finish line in 33rd place which guided the team to a historic sixth place finish. A combined 10 nationally ranked programs, including a national-best seven inside the top 10, will headline next week's Pac-12 Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships as the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Week 5 national rankings were released on Oct. 22

T3. Colorado (-)
T3. Stanford (1 first-place vote) (+2)
7. Washington (-3)
10. UCLA (+10)
16. Oregon (-9)
The Pac-12's combined seven top-10 ranked teams are the most of any conference, nearly double the next closest league (Big Ten – 4).
Oregon State Women Preview: After coming off an historic 2018 season that saw the Beavers make a run to the NCAA Nationals, the women have picked up where they left off and made their presence known on the national level this season. The team picked up a significant victory at the season-opening Viking Rust Buster (9/7) that saw the group sweep the first six spots and have eight finish inside the top-10. Sophomore Haley Wolf won the individual title with a time of 13:32.3 with redshirt junior Lexi Reed following shortly after Wolf for runner-up.
On Sept. 28, the Beavers finished within the top-five at the Bill Dellinger Invitational where they beat out two ranked teams in Furman and Texas. The team's performance helped guide them to a program milestone as the women broke into the national coaches' poll for the first time ever – checking in at No. 25.
In only his third season in Corvallis, head coach Louie Quintana has made an immediate impact as the team recorded their highest Pac-12 and regional finishes in school history during the 2018-19 season. The team also qualified for the NCAA Championships for the first time where the Beavers finished in 26th place with Haley Wolf as Oregon State's number two finisher.
This season has been no different for Quintana as he has continued to break barriers and make the program a household name in the world of cross country.

Team Notes
Pac-12 Preview: The Pac-12 men's race will feature a quartet of top-10 teams - the only league in the country with more than one top-10 men's program - as UCLA, which finished fifth at the Nuttycombe, climbed 10 spots to No. 10 for its best ranking since late in the 2017 season. Colorado and Stanford will enter the title meet as co-favorites as both the Buffaloes and Cardinal tied for third in the latest national poll, followed by No. 7 Washington.
The NCAA Mountain and West Regionals will be held Friday, Nov. 15 and hosted by Pac-12 programs Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah and Washington State in Colfax, Wash., with teams advancing to the 2019 NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday, Nov. 23.
The Pac-12 will be looking to add to its distinction as the winningest conference in NCAA Cross Country history this fall as current league members boast the most combined team national championships (29 – 16 men/13 women) and individual titles (29 – 25 men/4 women) of any league in the country.
