
Beavers Wrap Up Nuttycombe Invite

Madison, WI. – Oregon State cross country finished up action at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational hosted by Wisconsin on Friday afternoon at the Thomas Zimmerman Championship Course. The No. 25 women's team also competed in the championship race where they ultimately finished 30th out of 36 teams for 708 points. A group of Beavers also ran in the "B Race", finishing in 11th place with 239 points as they started the day for the Beavers.
Hailed as one of the nation's premier college meets in the country, the Nuttycombe Invite showcased 20 ranked teams out of the national coaches' poll and presented Oregon State their first big test of the season. Oregon State started the day with a contingent of Beavers running in the morning "B" race where the team finished eleventh. The six Beavers were led by freshman Libby Rinck who clocked in at 22:34.9 on the 6K course for a spot in 68th place.
Redshirt junior Lexi Reed paced Oregon State in the championship race with a time of 21:19.7, good for 108thplace. Reed previously raced in the event last season where she finished third for the Beavers. Talented freshman Gabby Peterson was right behind Reed at 21:23.6 while junior Audrey Lookner came in 137th place, running 21:33.1
Junior Greta Van Calcar and sophomore Haley Wolf ran collectively throughout the 6-kilometer course and finished within one spot of each other. Van Calcar moved up seven spots and clocked in at 21:50.5 to round out scoring for the Beavers.
Finishing in the sixth and seventh positions for Oregon State were Meagen Lowe in 203rd place running 22:06.9 and Mari Friedman in 205th place at 22:10.2.
"We will get back to work and get better," head coach Louie Quintana said. "I have to keep reminding myself that we are young and there are going to be peaks and valleys. We will keep showing up."
Oregon State had a group of Beavers run in the "B" section of the women's 6,000-kilometer race with Libby Rinck (22:34.9), Kate Intile (22:39.8) and Liv Downing (22:46.8) finishing 68th, 72nd and 76th, respectively.
The Beavers continue the weekend as a pair of runners will compete during Saturday's Lewis & Clark Invite in Estacada, Oregon. Freshmen Annika Sundstrom and Sydni Nedza will compete in the women's 6K race at 12 p.m. at McIver State Park. Results at the conclusion of the race can be found here.
