Boss Joins US Men’s National Team Staff For January Camp

Oregon State head coach will be part of USMNT staff for pair of friendlies
CHULA VISTA, Calif. – Oregon State men's soccer head coach Terry Boss has joined the coaching staff for the U.S. Men's National Team's January Camp, U.S. Soccer announced Wednesday. The camp runs Jan. 6-Feb. 2 in Chula Vista, Calif.
Boss joins new U.S. coach Gregg Berhalter for the near month-long gathering which will culminate with end-of-camp friendlies against Panama on Jan. 27 (State Farm Stadium; Glendale, Ariz.) and Costa Rica on Feb. 2 (Avaya Stadium; San Jose, Calif.).
Boss, who just completed his first season as Oregon State head coach, earned Pac-12 Coach of the Year honors for the 2018 season, after leading the Beavers to a win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and a second-place finish in the Pac-12.
Overall, the Beavers finished last season with a record of 11-6-3, and saw seven players earn all-conference honors, including Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Sofiane Djeffal. In addition, Boss coached Djeffal and seniors Don Tchilao and Hassani Dotson to All-Region recognition. Tchilao and Dotson were both selected in the second round of last week's Major League Soccer SuperDraft.
Prior to joining Oregon State, Boss, a native of Philomath, Ore., spent four seasons at the University of Virginia, two as the Cavaliers' associate head coach. He helped the Cavs advance to the NCAA Tournament all four years, including winning the national championship in 2014.
Boss played seven seasons as a professional goalkeeper before retiring in 2012. His last three years were spent with the Seattle Sounders of Major League Soccer where he picked up 28 saves and three shutouts, and posted a 6-2-1 record. During his time in Seattle, he played with Kasey Keller, one of the premier American goalkeepers of all time. As a Sounder, Boss won three consecutive US Open Cup titles and played against some of the best clubs in the world, including Chelsea, Barcelona, Manchester United, Celtic, Chivas de Guadalajara and Boca Juniors.
