Felicia Anderson To Compete At USA Swimming Nationals
July 25, 2018 | Women's Swimming
CORVALLIS – Felicia Anderson will compete at the USA Swimming Nationals at the William Woollett Aquatics Center in Irvine, Calif., this week.
Â
She qualified with a strong performance last summer at the U.S. Open Swimming National Championships at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in New York.
Â
Anderson will compete in the 50-meter backstroke on Friday and the 100-meter backstroke on Saturday. The top 24 in each event will advance to the finals, which will be held at 6 p.m. each evening. She will also time trial for the 200-meter backstroke on Thursday but is not eligible to advance to the finals.
Â
"I am excited to see where we are at the end of the summer," Oregon State head coach Jennifer Buffin said. "As a program we are focused on preparing for top individual performances but building to make the program better next season."
Â
Anderson, who is the granddaughter to OSU Hall of Fame basketball coach/player Jimmy Anderson, will be a junior at Oregon State this upcoming season. She has been the top scorer for Oregon State at the Pac-12 Championships the past two years and has qualified for several national meets, including the US Open, TYR Pro Swim Series and Nationals.
Â
Her goal is qualifying for the 2020 US Olympic Trials. Qualifying period begins after this summer.Â
