CORVALLIS, Ore. – Welcome to the fifth installment of our series introducing the newcomers to the 2018-19 swim team. This week we're featuring Cali Rowland. She is a freshman hailing from Forest Grove, Ore. specializing in the breaststroke.
What are you looking forward to most about swimming at Oregon State?
I'm most looking forward to competing at a collegiate level and being a part of something bigger than myself.
How do you spend your time outside of the pool?
I mostly am recovering from practice itself, but if I am not too beat up, maybe I will go out on a hike or exploring outdoors.
What is your first memory of being in the pool?
In all honesty, I can't remember a time where I wasn't in a pool.
Who is your role model?
My mom.
Do you have any pre-meet superstitions?
I don't not.
What other sports did you play growing up?
When I was little, I played soccer, basketball and track. When I was about 10, I chose to dedicate all of my time to swimming. Later, during high school, I played water polo from my sophomore to senior year.
What is one hidden talent you have?
I can touch my tongue to my nose.
What song/band is most likely to be playing on your phone?
My favorite bands are X Ambassadors and Weezer.
What is your favorite TV show?
Either 'Shameless' or 'American Horror Story.'
Oregon State will be back in action to host Seattle University and Southwestern Oregon Community College on Nov. 16 at 5 p.m.
