
Beavers Fall to Saint Mary's

Oregon State finished the season with a record of 11-6-3.
Fresno, Calif. – The Oregon State men's soccer team battled to the last minute but ultimately fell to Saint Mary's California, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon.
"A heart-breaking result for these guys who have given so much," said head coach Terry Boss. "I wanted more for them. I felt they deserved more. We played our game and these guys gave everything to one another and to the family we have become. I am exceptionally proud of them and everything they have accoplished this season"
Oregon State attempted multiple shots in the first half, as Don Tchilao fired a shot that barely missed the left post. Hassani Dotson followed that up with a 16th-minute effort from inside the box that went over the crossbar.
Carlos Moliner missed the right post by inches in the 26th minute after dribbling through two defenders. Neither team could convert any shots resulting a tie game at the half, 0-0.
The Beavers made multiple attempts to score during in the second half, including when Dotson scorched a shot from just outside the box that deflected off of the hands of SMC's goalkeeper. The Beavers maintained possession allowing Sofiane Djeffal an attempt from almost the same spot that went wide.
Tchilao would receive a pass to lead him toward the goal in the 67th minute that would be called back for off-sides.
Goalkeeper Adrian Fernandez kept the Beavers in the match, recording five saves.
Saint Mary's found the back of the net in the 80th minute. Oregon State pressed forward in the closing stages of the match, but could not get on the board as Saint Mary's took the win.
The Beavers finished the season with an overall record of 11-6-3 in head coach Terry Boss's first season at the helm of the program.
