Beavers Travel East for Navy Classic

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State wrestling team continues its season this weekend as the Beavers travel to the east coast for the Navy Classic on Saturday.
This is the second consecutive year for the Beavers at the Navy Classic. Last year, 197-pounder Corey Griego won the tournament going 5-0 during the tournament. The Beavers placed in 11th overall with 56.5 team points.
15 teams are expected to be in attendance on Saturday. Those include: Air Force, American, Brown, Bucknell, Campbell, Cleveland State, Edinboro, George Mason, Indiana, Kent State, Michigan State, Navy, Ohio, Old Dominion and Oregon State.
Last weekend at the Mike Clock Open the Beavers dominated the mats bringing home eight first places, with four second and third places as well. OSU managed 36 pins and 15 technical falls.
No. 3 All-American 125-pounder Ronnie Bresser (4-0) brought home one of those championships going 4-0 last Sunday. Bresser garnered one pin and three tech. falls on the way to first.
Devan Turner (4-0) won first place at 133 pounds at the Mike Clock Open using three bonus point victories to get there. Kegan Calkins (0-0) will make his first appearance this season at Navy.
At 141 pounds the Beavers will wrestle a pair in Grant Willits (3-1) and Conner Noonan (5-1). Willits brought home second place at the Mike Clock Open losing to former Beavers wrestler and assistant Joey Palmer. Noonan finished in third place at the Mike Clock Open losing to Palmer in the quarterfinals.
149-pounder Josh Reyes (5-0) looks to remain unbeaten after winning the title at his weight class at the Mike Clock Open. Reyes picked up three pins during his championship run.
NCAA-qualifier Hunter Willits (5-0) is the only entrant at 157 pounds for Oregon State. Willits is coming off a championship performance at the Mike Clock Open where he had bonus-point wins in every match.
165-pound redshirt freshman Aaron Olmos (4-1) will get his first varsity action at Navy. Olmos finished in second place last weekend after falling by decision 4-2 in the finals.
Colt Doyle (4-0) and Joe Dematteo (4-2) will represent the Beavers at 174 pounds. Doyle redshirted last season after suffering an injury, but started his 2018-19 campaign off strong with a win at the Mike Clock Open.
Oregon State brings experience to the table at 184 pounds in Myles Terry (5-0) and Bob Coleman (5-1). Terry started all last season at 174 pounds as a true freshman and missed the NCAA Championships by one match last year. Terry placed first at the Mike Clock Open, while Coleman brought home third place.
Three-time NCAA Qualifier Corey Griego (0-0) will make his first start of the 2018-19 season this weekend. Griego won the Pac-12 Championships last season at 197 pounds for the second time in his career. Adam Rateb (2-2) will also compete for Oregon State at 197 pounds at Navy.
The Beavers have one lone entrant at heavyweight in Jamarcus Grant (6-0). Grant is coming off a first place finish at the Mike Clock Open where he earned three bonus point wins.
