Juliana Mount Garners All-Conference Honors
October 30, 2018 | Women's Cross Country
SAN FRANCISCO – Senior Juliana Mount of the Oregon State cross country team continued the team's historic season in becoming the first in OSU history to be a Pac-12 All-Conference selection as announced by the Pac-12 Conference on Tuesday.
The all-conference selections are determined by the student-athletes finish at the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships which were held last week at the Stanford Golf Course. Mount had her highest finish in her Oregon State career in California placing 14th overall earning a Second Team All-Conference designation.
"She definitely earned it, it was a tough course and a warm day," began women's cross country head coach Louie Quintana. "It is a big honor, and for JJ [Mount] it is another stepping stone in her belief that she can run with the elite, and the Pac-12 is certainly one of those conferences that are elite as they come."
Mount paced the Beavers at the Pac-12 Cross Country Championships who claimed their highest team finish in Pac-12 history. OSU managed a 6th place finish with 173 teams points, the team's lowest point total at the championship event in school history.
"For her to be considered an All-Conference runner tells me that she is really on that path to having an opportunity in two weeks to lead our team to the NCAA meet," said Quintana. "It is big for our team, because it gives us a legitimate front runner giving us increased confidence heading into the regional meet knowing that we have someone up front to give us as few points as possible."
Mount is a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic selection and ran to a NCAA All-West Region honor at the NCAA regional meet last season.

The Beavers head to Sacramento, Calif. on Friday Nov. 9 for the NCAA West Regional Championships. The event is slated to be held at the Haggin Oaks Golf Course.
