Senior becomes third Oregon State player in history to win the honor twice in the same season
CORVALLIS – Oregon State senior Don Tchilao has been named Pac-12 Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Â
Tchilao scored the game-winning goal in both of Oregon State's victories this week, finding the net in the first half vs. San Diego State and providing an overtime winner in Sunday's 4-3 thriller over UCLA. The forward also tallied a pair of assists against the Bruins. The forward also earned College Soccer News National Player of the Week recognition on Monday.
Â
Overall, Tchilao has seven goals and seven assists on the season, placing him second in the Pac-12 in points with 21. The senior speech communication major was an All-Pac-12 Preseason selection this year, and was honored as Pac-12 Player of the Week on Sept. 4. He has started all 17 matches this season, playing a total of 1,552 minutes.
Â
The honor is the fourth Pac-12 Player of the Week Award won by the Beavers this season, a new program high for a single year. It is also the third-straight week an OSU player has earned the honor, with Hassani Dotson and Alex Cover taking it the last two weeks.
Â
Tchilao is the seventh player in Oregon State history to take Pac-12 Player of the Week honors multiple times in his career (Alan Gordon, Robbie Findley, Ryan Johnson, Danny Mwanga, Emery Welshman, Jordan Jones) and the third to do so twice in the same season (Gordon, Mwanga, Johnson).
Â
As a team, Oregon State currently sits atop the Pac-12 standings with 19 points. The Beavers have an overall record of 10-4-3, and are 6-2-1 in conference play. OSU broke into the Top Drawer Soccer rankings this week, coming in at No. 25. The Beavers are unbeaten in their last six matches and have not lost a home game since Aug. 28.
Â
Oregon State will close out the regular season on Nov. 9 when they head north for a matchup with Washington.
