January 11, 2018 | Football
CORVALLIS – Oregon State head football coach Jonathan Smith announced Thursday the addition of Marco Candido and Bryan Klobucar to the Beavers' football strength and conditioning staff.
Â
Candido will serve as the associate head strength and conditioning coach and arrives on campus from the University of Illinois, where he spent the last two seasons working with the Fighting Illini's football program. Prior to Illinois, he was an assistant football strength and conditioning coach at Washington State University from 2008-16. The Gustine, Calif., native also has experience at the collegiate level at Drake University, UAB, Arizona State University, the University of LaVerne, Occidental College and in Arena Football League 2 with the Birmingham Steeldogs.
Â
He played football at Occidental where he graduated with his bachelor's degree in kinesiology (2003) and earned a master's degree from UAB in exercise physiology (2005).

Â
Klobucar will have the role of associate strength and conditioning coach after spending the last three-plus years at the University of Arizona as the Wildcats' assistant football strength and conditioning coach. Prior to his stint in Tucson he served as the athletic performance director at Black Hills State University for one year and as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Boise State University for one year. He also has collegiate experience at Gardner-Webb University and Saginaw Valley State University.
Â
The Hudsonville, Mich., native played football at Saginaw Valley State where he earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science (2001) and a master's degree from Gardner-Webb in sports science and pedagogy (2013).
Â
"Marco and Bryan are excellent coaches who will help the young men in this program develop physically and mentally into outstanding student-athletes," OSU head football strength and conditioning coach Michael McDonald said.
Â

Both Candido and Klobucar are accredited by the Certified Strength and Conditioning Coaches (CSCS), the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and by USA Weightlifting (USAW).
