February 24, 2017 | Women's Gymnastics
STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 10 Oregon State gymnastics team (7-2) went over the 197-point mark for the first time this season en route to defeating Stanford, 197.125-196.325. Friday night's win is the first by the Beavers in a regular season dual meet since 1996.
Â
"I'm extremely happy with tonight's performance," head coach Tanya Chaplin said. Our start wasn't perfect but they really buckled down in the last three events to make it happen."

Â
In the third rotation, the Beavers caught fire as the heart of the lineup of Silvia Colussi-Pelaez, Isis Lowery, Gardiner and McMillan nailed routine after routine posting scores of 9.90, 9.90, 9.90 and 9.925 respectively. Mary Jacobsen added a season-high 9.850 on the event, while Colussi-Pelaez and Lowery collected career-bests.
Â
The Beavers closed the meet on the balance beam in pursuit of their first 197-point effort of the season. Gardiner secured the event title with a score of 9.925 while Colussi-Pelaez matched her career-best with her second 9.90 of the night. Dessaints and Megan Jimenez each performed strong beam sets to post scores of 9.825 to help the team to a beam score of 49.275.

The Oregon State gymnasts return to Gill Coliseum for their final two meets of the regular season beginning next Sunday, March 5, to host Pacific Northwest rival Washington.
