Senior one of 60 invited to 2018 MLS adidas Player Combine in Orlando
NEW YORK (MLS/Oregon State) – Oregon State men's soccer senior forward Jordan Jones (Pacific Grove, Calif.) was one of 60 NCAA Division I college players invited to participate at the 2018 MLS adidas Player Combine in Orlando, Fla., in a release on Thursday from Major League Soccer.
"I'm thrilled that Jordan will get the opportunity to showcase his abilities and represent Oregon State at the MLS combine," said interim head coach Ben Stoddard, "His invitation, along with the news of Khiry (Shelton), Matt (Bersano), Will (Seymore) and David (Norman Jr.), makes this an exciting month for Oregon State and the men's soccer team.
"There are a lot of exciting things happening in and around this program."
Jones will participate at the annual combine from January 11-17 at Orlando City Stadium, with representatives from all 23 MLS clubs scouting the top college prospects ahead of the January 19 MLS SuperDraft in Philadelphia.
A committee of MLS coaches and NCAA DI coaches from every conference selected the invitees, all of whom completed their college eligibility this season.
Jones completed his senior season with a handful of accolades, including a spot on the All-Pac-12 second team, as he closed his Oregon State career with 29 goals and six assists for 64 points in 75 career appearances.
The Pacific Grove, Calif., native will have the opportunity to join several former Beaver members in the pros who have made moves. Most recently, Khiry Shelton (2011-14) was traded from New York City FC to Sporting Kansas City on December 14, David Norman Jr. (2016) signed with Vancouver Whitecaps FC on December 1, Matt Bersano (2012-14) had his contract exercised by the San Jose Earthquakes on November 27, and Will Seymore (2011-14) signed with FC Cincinnati on November 21.
