Track open house, clinic set for Monday

The Oregon State track & field program will host and open house and clinic on Monday at the Truax Indoor Center and the Whyte Track & Field Center.

OSU head coach Kelly Sullivan and assistants Eric Schueffner, David Dumble and Adam Dunn will host a series of interactive group training sessions. Members of the OSU team will also participate. The event is free and open to all coaches, officials and the general public.

Registration and check in begins at 9 a.m. at the Loge at Reser Stadium. Clinic sessions begin at 10 a.m. at the Truax Indoor Center and at adjacent Prothro Field. The pole vault clinic starts at 11 a.m. at the track, weather permitting.

"I am really excited for coaches, alums, officials and others to meet our new assistant coaches and our team," Sullivan said. "Participants will get a chance to learn and also share ideas in a really cool setting.

"Our team is really excited. Our intention is for the new staff to get a chance to meet local coaches and others and there is no better place to do that than a real track and field practice!"
Â
Attendees can also check out the ongoing construction at the Whyte Track & Field Center. Additions include a new hammer facility; a warmup area on the back stretch that will also include a third pole vault and javelin runway, and state-of-the-art video scoreboard on the first turn.

The KEJO-AM 1240 Joe Beaver Show, hosted by OSU football/basketball/baseball play-by-play broadcaster Mike Parker and Jon Warren, will host a remote broadcast at the Truax Center during the event.

Here is the schedule:

9 A.M.: Registration, meet-and-greet, Loge Level, Reser Stadium.
Â
10 A.M.: Distance training, TIC/PF; long jump/triple jump, TIC; discus, TIC.
Â
11 A.M.: High jump, TIC; javelin, TIC; pole vault, WTFC (weather permitting).
Â
NOON: Sprints, TIC; shot put, TIC.
