Beavers Held Intrasquad Scrimmage Saturday Morning
September 24, 2016 | Women's Swimming
CORVALLIS, Ore. — The Oregon State women's swimming held its annual Orange and Black scrimmage this morning at the Osborn Aquatic Center, with team Orange taking the overall title.
Â
It was a tight battle after the Black team came back in the last individual event with the top-two finishers in the 200 IM by seniors Czsarina Isleta and Chelsea Chan. The 400-free relay would be the deciding factor for the champion. It was a tight race between the two teams, with team Orange out touching the Black by only .4 seconds for the win.
Â
"Having this morning's meet come down to the last relay showed me that this team is ready to race," said head coach Jennifier Buffin. "It was great to these ladies step up after swimming multiple events in a short time, each team fought to the end."
Â
Freshman Felicia Anderson, senior, Czsarina Isleta and junior, Noemie Midrez led the black team with two individual titles, while the Orange team was led by senior Andrea Young and junior Corrine Shigeta both leading with two titles.
Â
"It was great to see how the teams responded to a meet environment, the seniors showed great leadership in preparing their teams to race this morning," continued Buffin. "It is not often you have a class of this size that all came in as freshman and finish their senior years together, this group is highly motivated to make this season their best."
Â
Other top finishers were Brooke Meyer in the 100 Fly and Anni Hecker in the 100 Free.
