The point-based Civil War Series will have a total of four sponsors supporting 10 different sports when Oregon and Oregon State go head-to-head throughout the 2016-17 athletic season
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The storied competition between Oregon State University and the University of Oregon has been played out on fields, and in arenas and courts, since 1894. The yearlong athletic battle between the two in-state rivals – Civil War Series – welcomes back corporate partners PacificSource Health Plans and Spirit Mountain Casino, and introduces Safeway/Albertsons and Your Local Toyota Dealers.
The point-based Civil War Series will have a total of four sponsors supporting 10 different sports when Oregon and Oregon State go head-to-head throughout the 2016-17 athletic season. The corporate partnerships are being managed by Learfield's Beaver Sports Properties and Oregon IMG Sports Marketing, the respective multimedia rights holders for the university athletic departments.
As Safeway/Albertsons is one of the newest sponsors, they will offer customers special promotional codes this fall with certain products in their store locations, where fans can enter to win fly away trips to away games, season tickets, and exclusive Beaver and Duck prizes. Additionally, Toyota dealers throughout the state have come together to support both universities as the presenting sponsor of the Dam City Classic, along with many community OSU events such as the Teddy Bear Toss and the GenBeavs Kid's Club.
"We are very excited to join both schools and be a part of this special rivalry. Throughout the football season, we will be providing exclusive prizes to Beavers and Ducks fans each week such as a fly away trip, tickets and memorabilia. Safeway and Albertsons is proud to partner and support both universities and are looking forward to cheering them on throughout the year," said Marketing Director Jessica Wong.
Continuing in its third consecutive sponsorship season, PacificSource Health Plan implements the Healthy Life Challenge to connect with Beaver and Ducks fans to support and communicate healthy life choices. In addition, Spirit Mountain Casino also celebrates its third year of involvement with the Civil War Series and its tenth year as a partner of both Oregon State and Oregon Athletics.
"We love to support this fun rivalry between two great schools and two great teams," said PacificSource CEO Ken Provencher. "We look forward to seeing fans take a pledge for their health through our Healthy Life Fan challenge and prove which fan base is the healthiest."                     Â
