Marshall Paces Beavers To Sweep Of Wyoming
September 16, 2016 | Women's Volleyball
Oregon State finishes its trip Saturday night at 7 p.m.
MOSCOW, Idaho – Mary-Kate Marshall tallied 23 kills and Lanesha Reagan finished with 13 to spur the Oregon State volleyball team to a sweep of Wyoming Friday morning at Memorial Gym.
Â
Set scores were 25-18, 25-22 and 25-19.
Â
Marshall's 23 kills mark a season-high for the junior, and were also just two shy of tying the Oregon State record for a three-set match. That record belongs to Heather Lowe, who had 25 against Arizona State in 1996.
Â
On Friday morning, Marshall opened the match with 10 kills in the first set, and finished with 23 on the strength of 43 total attacks. She committed just two attack errors for a hitting percentage of .488, the best by an Oregon State player this season.
Â
The Coppell, Texas native also finished with eight digs, two blocks and a service ace in helping the Beavers improve to 6-4 this season.
Â
Marshall has 31 kills over the two matches in Idaho, thus far, giving her 1,091 for her career. She's within striking distance of the No. 12 (Angie Shirley – 1,098) and No. 11 (Camille Saxton – 1,101) spots in the Oregon State career books.
Â
Reagan, meanwhile, backed up Marshall with 13 kills of her own, adding 12 digs for her fourth double double of the season. The redshirt sophomore hit .471 during the set second, tallying nine kills along with five digs.
Â
McKenna Hollingsworth finished with a double double as well, her third of the season, finishing with 41 assists and 10 digs. Sixteen of her 41 assists came in the first set.
Â
Kayla Ellis also had 21 digs for the Beavers, helping pace Oregon State defensively. The sophomore recorded 11 of those digs in the first set.
Â
Wyoming (6-6) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first set, but the Beavers roared back with 13 consecutive points to take a commanding lead.
Â
Overall, the lead changed hands just seven times over the three sets, with five coming in the second frame. That set also saw the score tied 11 times.
