
24 earn All-Academic honors

CORVALLIS – The Oregon State track and field team saw a program-best 24 student-athletes earn Pacific-12 Conference academic honors on Thursday, the second-highest total of any team in the conference. Among the honorees were six Pac-12 Academic First Team members, the most by any school, and tied for the highest number in Oregon State history.
Leading the way for the Beavers in the honors is senior Kelsi Schaer (pictured above), who made the First Team in track for the fourth time in her career, and also earned Pac-12 All-Academic honors in cross country in 2013. Schaer ran in four meets this season, and helped the 1600 relay team clock the fourth-best time in school history at this year's Pac-12 Championships.
Senior Kira Kelly and junior Ally Jackson both notch All-Academic First Team honors in track for the second-straight season. Kelly is a Kinesiology major with a 3.89 GPA, while Jackson holds a 3.95 GPA in Apparel Design. Senior Kayla Fleskes earns First Team recognition for the second time in her career, also receiving the award in 2014, before redshirting the 2015 campaign. She currently holds a robust 3.85 GPA as a Civil Engineering major.
Seniors Emily Weber and Samantha Lewis round out the Beavers' list of First Teamers. The academic recognition is the first for Weber in the sport of track, but the Kinesiology major (3.92 GPA) is a two-time Academic First Team honoree in cross country. Lewis, also a Kinesiology major (3.90 GPA), made the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team in cross country in the fall.
Senior Michele Turney makes her third appearance in the All-Academic squad, making the Second Team for the second-straight year, after landing a spot on the First Team in her sophomore campaign. Junior Morgan Anderson records her third-straight Academic Second Team plaudit this season, while senior Jessica Lautenbach makes the Second Team for the first time in her career, after recording Academic Honorable Mention the last two seasons.
Oregon State also saw 15 student-athletes earn All-Academic Honorable Mention. The full list is below:
