
Three Men's Golfers Earn All-Academic Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. – Conner Kumpula was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team and Chris Tedesco and Jonas Liebich both received Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention recognition, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Friday.
Kumpula, a junior from Albany, Ore., received Pac-12 All-Academic honors for the second straight year for his 3.37 cumulative GPA in industrial engineering. He was named Honorable Mention last year. Kumpula played in all 11 tournaments this past season and had a scoring average of 74.00. He posted three top-10 finishes, including a career-best tie for fourth place at the Redhawk Invitational.
Tedesco, a senior from Gig Harbor, Wash., was named Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention for the second straight year for his 3.32 cumulative GPA in business finance. He played in nine tournaments and had a scoring average of 75.21. He shot a career-best 3-under 68 in the second round of the Saint Mary's Invitational where he finished in a tie for 13th place. Tedesco was the Vice President of Oregon State University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) during the 2015-16 academic year.
Liebich, a sophomore from Ingolstadt, Germany, earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention honors in his first eligible year for a 3.27 cumulative GPA in pre-business. He played in 10 tournaments, had a scoring average of 75.06 and tied the Oregon State single-round record with a 9-under 63 in the second round of the Amer Ari Invitational. His best finish was a tie for 11th place at the Redhawk Invitational.
An Oregon State men's golfer has now earned conference all-academic honors all 21 years since the recognition began in 1996.
In order to be eligible for the Pac-12 All-Academic teams, a student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.00 or better and must be a starter or significant contributor.
