
Picknell sets hammer mark at ASU

Picknell's throw of 169 feet, four inches broke her former school mark of 165-7.25 by just under two feet. She set the old record on March 18 at the Lewis & Clark Spring Break meet.
Picknell took 14th place in her 24-woman flight and was third among Pacific-12 Conference entrants. Teammate Melissa Ausman was 20th at 154-6.
In the pole vault, junior Helen Ann Haun placed sixth in a 24-member flight at 12-3.50, the second-highest mark in school history. Junior Annie Sidor was 14th in 11-9.75, the No. 3 all-time mark.
The Beavers also competed at the John Knight Twilight Meet at Western Oregon on Friday. Results were not available.
The Sun Angel Classic concludes today. The Beavers have entered a full contingent of sprinters, hurdlers, throwers and jumpers in one of the biggest meets on the West Coast.
OSU resumes action at the Oregon Relays at Hayward Field on April 14-16. Their lone home competition is the annual High Performance Meet, set for April 29-30 at the Whyte Track & Field Center.
