
Trio Of Golfers Shoot 73 At Pac-12 Championship

PLEASANTON, Calif. – Ashlee Pickerell, Hannah Swanson and Olivia Benzin all shot a 1-over 73 in the second round of the Pac-12 Championship on Tuesday to lead the Oregon State women's golf team.
Pickerell, a senior from Salem, Ore., led the Beavers with three birdies at the par-72, 6,458-yard Ruby Hill Golf Club, while Swanson, a sophomore from Forest Grove, Ore., and Benzin, a freshman from Tacoma, Wash., each had two.
Oregon State finished the second round with a 5-over 293 and sits in 11th place through 36 holes with a 9-over 292-293--585.
No. 2 USC has a commanding lead over a field that includes eight teams ranked in the top 20 with a 25-under 551. No. 4 UCLA and No. 11 Arizona are tied for second with a 10-under 566, No. 10 Arizona State is fourth with a 7-under 569 and No. 40 Colorado is fifth with a 6-under 570.
The final round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday with tee times off the first and 10th holes. Live scoring and pairings are available at golfstat.com.
After opening the tournament with a 1-under 71, senior Chelsea Saelee shot a 3-over 75 in the second round to put her in a tie for 29th place with a 2-over 146. Sophomore Haley Nist and Swanson are also tied for 29th, as Nist has posted scores of 72-74 and Swanson has carded a pair of 73's.
The 73 by Pickerell moved her five spots up the leaderboard into a tie for 45th with a 5-over 76-73--149. Benzin is three strokes back, and in a tie for 51st, with an 8-over 79-73--152.
There are several players in the hunt for the individual title, led by Gabriella Then of USC with a 9-under 70-65--135. Alexis Keating of Colorado is second with an 8-under 70-66--136 and Haley Moore of Arizona is third with a 6-under 66-72--138.
The 2016 Pac-12 Championship will be condensed into a one-hour show that will debut on Wednesday, April 27 at 6 p.m. across all Pac-12 Networks.
