ATLANTA, Ga. – Senior Sammy Harrison of the Oregon State swimming team continued her NCAA Division I Women's Swimming Championships campaign on Friday with the 200-yard freestyle from the McAuley Aquatic Center.
Harrison competed in lane eight of the second heat of the 200-yard freestyle preliminaries. She placed 55th in the 200 on Friday with a time of 1:47.73, the fifth-fastest time in program history.
The Henderson, Nev. native owns the second-best time in school history, clocking a time of 1:46.70 last season. She recorded a time of 1:47.13 at the Pac-12 Championships this season, and with today's result, owns three of the top five times in the event all-time at Oregon State.
Harrison was invited to swim the event thanks to her NCAA cut times in the 500-yard freestyle and the 1,650-yard freestyle.
Harrison will wrap up her NCAA Championships campaign with her signature event, the 1,650-yard freestyle, on Saturday. Heats for the 1,650 begin at 12:45 p.m. PT (3:45 p.m. ET), while Harrison's heat, the third heat, will likely commence at about 1:30 p.m. PT (4:30 p.m. PT).
ESPN3.com will cover the finals for the 1,650-yard freestyle live on Saturday. Additionally, ESPNU will air a two-hour show on Tuesday, March 29 with coverage across each event of the women's championships. Live coverage of all sessions not carried by ESPN can be found through host Georgia Tech's website at this link.
