
Harrison Places Second in 1,650 Free at Pac-12's

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The Oregon State swimming team's Sammy Harrison finished second in the 1,650-yard freestyle at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center on Saturday to cap off competition at the Pac-12 Championships.
Harrison's time of 16:06.13, which was good for 28 points and second in the event, ranks as the second-fastest time in school history, only behind her own time of 15:54.61 last season. The senior from Henderson, Nev. also owns the now third-best time in school history (16:21.00)
Harrison was just edged by USC's Elizabeth Stinson, who won the event with a time of 15:59.13.
Oregon State added 42 points in the final event of the Pac-12 Championships, as the foursome of Constance Toulemonde, Anni Hecker, Andrea Young and Harrison combined to swim the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:25.69 and finish in ninth.
Oregon State finished ninth with 291 points at the conclusion of the Pac-12 Championships. USC placed first with 1,481 points.
Individually, Toulemonde shaved over half a second off her personal best in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 50.97 to register the Beavers' top time in that event on Saturday. Hecker followed closely behind with a time of 51.06.
Young just missed the cut for the finals of the 200-yard breaststroke, placing 26th with a time of 2:17.69. Czsarina Isleta finished her heat in 2:19.26.
Amani Amr accounted for the Beavers' top time in the 200-yard backstroke, finishing the event in 2:08.60, while Tair Maimon finished in 2:13.66. Jesikah Cavanaugh was the Beavers' top performer in the 200-yard butterfly, clocking a time of 2:06.66.
