
Harrison Places Third in 500 Free at Pac-12's

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Sammy Harrison placed third in the 500-yard freestyle to pace the Oregon State swimming team at the Pac-12 Championships on Thursday night at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
Harrison clocked a time of 4:41.85 for her third-place finish and for 27 points towards Oregon State's team total. The Henderson, Nev. native's time was the second-fastest in program history, only edged out by her own time of 4:39.10 last season.
Harrison had recorded an earlier 500 free time of 4:42.74 in the preliminaries, the second-fastest preliminary time of all Pac-12 swimmers as well as the third-fastest time in school history.
The Beavers also picked up 42 points with a ninth-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as Claire McLaggan, Anni Hecker, Constance Toulemonde and Sophie MacEwan combined to finish the event in 1:34.41.
Through two days, Oregon State sits in ninth-place with 155 points, just edged by Washington State (168 points) for eighth. Stanford leads the Pac-12 Championships with 557 points at the halfway point, while USC is in second (512) and California ranks third (477.5).
Other 500 freestyle times on Thursday night included a 5:05.95 performance by Noemie Midrez, a time of 5:11.42 by Emma Osowski, as well as Taylor Frank's time of 5:18.16.
Andrea Young led Oregon State in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:05.04. Czsarina Isleta followed closely behind with a time of 2:05.41, while Corrine Shigeta (2:08.15) and Chelsea Chan (2:09.00) also recorded notable times.
Toulemonde registered the Beavers' top time in the 50-yard freestyle (23.54). MacEwan finished in 23.74, while Hecker clocked a time of 23.79.
Each of the 400 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and 400 medley relay is scheduled for Friday at the Pac-12 Championships. Preliminary heats are set for an 11 a.m. PT start, while the finals will be held at 6 p.m. PT.
