
Selig Named to Pac-12 All-Century Gymnastics Team

Former Oregon State national champion Joy Selig (Petersen) was selected to the Pac-12 Conference's All-Century Gymnastics team, which was released Monday night by the Pac-12 Networks.
Selig lettered for the Beavers from 1988-91 and was a seven-time All-American. She earned the NCAA title on the balance beam twice (1989 and 1990) and once on the floor exercise (1990).
She was named to the Pacific-10 Conference Women's All-Decade Team in 1995 (all sports). She was the 1991 American Award recipient, an honor given to the nation's top gymnast.
Selig was also an Academic All-American. At the time of her graduation, she held the school record in the all-around, balance beam and floor exercise. Inducted into the OSU Sports Hall of Fame in 1997 and the State of Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 2010, Selig was the NCAA Woman of the Year for Oregon and participated in the World University Games in 1991.
Tasha Schwikert of UCLA was awarded the Pac-12 Women's Gymnast of the Century honor. Current Bruin head coach Valorie Kondos Field was named the Pac-12 Gymnastics Coach of the Century.
A total of 16 women were selected to the All-Century Team representing four different decades. Seven all-century team members competed in the Olympics, winning a total of five medals (two silver, three bronze). Additionally, all 16 gymnasts won at least one NCAA/AIAW individual championships, winning a total of 36 NCAA individual titles.
