Beavers Finish Second at Husky Invite

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — The Oregon State swimming team concluded the 68th annual Husky Invite in second place this past weekend with 708 points at Weyerhauser King County Aquatic Center.
The Beavers took first in 3-of-4 relays over the five sessions, including setting a new meet record in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:42.28.
Oregon State swam in the morning prelim session on Sunday and saw eight swimmers finish in the top-10 in five different events and the 400-yard freestyle relay took first place with a mark of 3:25.62. The relay team was made up of Andrea Young, Anni Hecker, Felicia Anderson and Sophie MacEwan.
Freshman Felicia Anderson started the successful day for the Beavers in the 200-yard backstroke prelim with a second place finish with a time of 2:00.06.
Senior Anni Hecker took a top finish in the 100-yard freestyle prelim with a touch of 51.09, while senior Sophie MacEwan followed in fifth with a time of 51.65.
A trio of Beavers finished in the top-10 in the 200-yard breaststroke prelim, led by senior Andrea Young with a third place mark and a time of 2:17.27. Chelsea Chan and Corrine Shigeta followed in third and fourth place, respectfully.
Senior Jesikah Cavanaugh made her way into the top-10 in the 200-yard butterfly prelim with a fifth place finish and a touch of 2:06.09.
All seven swimmers qualified for the finals held Sunday night, but the Beavers cut their trip short and headed back to Corvallis to prepare for final starting on Monday.
Oregon State will head for Hawai'i for its training trip from December 11-21 where it will face Hawai'I on Dec. 18.
