Seniors Pace Beavers in First Day of Husky Invite

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — The Oregon State seniors led the way in the opening day of the 68th annual Husky Invite at Weyerhauser King County Aquatic Center.

Following a morning session that saw 11 different Beavers qualify for finals, the Oregon State 200-yard freestyle relay came out strong, taking first place in the relay with a time of 1:34.16.
Senior Andrea Young built off her second place finish in the morning prelim session in the 200-yard IM and finished the finals in third with a time of 2:03.14.
Senior Sophie MacEwan also followed suit after finishing in the top two in the morning prelim of the 50-yard freestyle, to claim second place in the sprint with a mark of 23.45—two tenth of a second behind the leader. The Beavers finished the first day in second place with 245 points, just eight points behind leader San Diego.
Oregon will continue action tomorrow at the Husky Invite starting at 9:00 a.m. Follow live results HERE.
Oregon State will head for Hawaii following the Invite for its training trip from December 11-21 where it will face Hawai'I on Dec. 18.
