
OSU's Harrison Wins 1,000 Free at Boise State

BOISE, Idaho – Senior Sammy Harrison won the 1,000-yard freestyle to highlight wins in four events for the Oregon State swimming team at Boise State on Saturday afternoon from the Boise West YMCA.
Harrison clocked a time of 10:18.25 en route to touching the wall first in the 1,000-yard freestyle. The senior from Henderson, Nev. added a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle (5:06.16).
Oregon State recorded its other three wins in events exhibitioned by the Broncos. Individually, freshman Megan Lam won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.57, while junior Czsarina Isleta posted a time of 2:12.42 in her win in the 200-yard IM.
Lam placed second in Saturday's other butterfly event, the 200, with a time of 2:10.92.
Oregon State accounted for its final win of the day in the 400-yard freestyle relay, in which the foursome of junior Andrea Young, junior Anni Hecker, senior Claire McLaggan and Harrison recorded a time of 3:39.35.
The final team score for Saturday's meet in Boise ended in favor of the Broncos, 150-104.
Oregon State opened the meet with a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. Senior Amani Amr, Isleta, Young and McLaggan combined for a time of 1:48.60 to set up what would be a solid day for the Beavers in the relay events.
Aside from her involvement in the relay events, Isleta also posted a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.39), as well as a third-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:22.73). Young added a third-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle (54.10) to round out the Beavers' top individual performances.
The Oregon State swimming team will be off for just over three weeks before returning to competition on Wednesday, Feb. 24 for the Pac-12 Swimming Championships. The conference meet will last through Saturday, Feb. 27, and will be held at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. Television coverage will debut on the Pac-12 Networks at a later date.
