
Mueller Finds Net, Beavers Fall to Seattle 2-1

Corvallis - Seattle University scored twice in the final 1:36 to stun No. 10/13 Oregon State 2-1 on Sunday in OSU's final nonconference game of the season.
It was the third consecutive one-goal loss for the Beavers (5-3-0), playing their first game at Lorenz Field since Aug. 30. It was the first win in three games in Corvallis for the Redhawks (7-2-0).
The Beavers appeared poised to end a two-game losing streak when sophomore forward Timmy Mueller scored at 76:06 after a corner kick by senior Mikhail Doholis. A shot by sophomore Jordan Jones following the inswinging corner was blocked, but Mueller headed home the rebound his fifth goal of the season.
Seattle stepped up the pressure following Mueller's goal but the Beavers staved off several scoring chances following corners in the 84th and 85th minutes as defenders cleared several balls off the line. However, Seattle's Kyle Bjornethun tied the game with an unassisted goal at 88:24 after OSU couldn't clear to relieve the pressure, and then headed home the winner at 89:45 off a cross by Michael Roberts.
Shots were even at 15 apiece; Jones had seven to lead the Beavers. OSU sophomore goalie Nolan Wirth and Seattle counterpart Shane Haworth each had three saves.
OSU begins Pacific-12 Conference play at 1:30 p.m. Friday against UCLA in a game that will be televised by Pac-12 Networks. It concludes the weekend by hosting San Diego State at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
