
Men's Golf Prepared For Fall's First Event

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State men's golf team will open its 2015-16 season at the Saint Mary's Invitational in Pebble Beach, Calif., next Monday through Wednesday.
The Saint Mary's men's golf program will host the annual Saint Mary's Invitational for the 10th time overall and the ninth straight year. For the first time since 2009, the event will take place at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach, Calif. The first four years of the event were conducted at Poppy Hills, while the last five took place at Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Courses in Seaside.
FIELD (15): Oregon State, Arizona, BYU, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, Pacific, Saint Mary's, San Diego, San Diego State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Texas State, UC Davis and Washington State.
COURSE: The tournament will be held at the par-71, 6,868-yard Poppy Hills Golf Course.
Poppy Hills became the first course to be owned and operated by a golf association in the U.S. when the Northern California Golf Association built it to serve as its headquarters and tournament home. Opened on June 1, 1986, the Robert Trent Jones Jr. design has since co-hosted the PGA Tour's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am from 1991 through 2009, as well as the Spalding Pebble Beach Invitational (1989, 1990, 1992, 1993) and NCAA Men's Championships.
BEAVERS' LINEUP: Oregon State will go with a lineup of senior Chris Tedesco, juniors Conner Kumpula and Kevin Murphy, sophomore Jonas Liebich and freshman Trevor Yu. Senior Tyler Carlson will compete as an individual.
FORMAT: Three-day, 54-hole tournament with 18 holes each day. The top-four individuals from each five-member team with the lowest scores for each 18-hole round constitute the scoring members for that given round.
TEE TIMES: There will be tee times each day beginning at 7:30 a.m. off the first and 10th holes. The Beavers will start at 7:40 a.m. off the 10th tee on Monday and be paired with San Diego and San Francisco.

NEW FACES: The Oregon State roster includes four players who joined the program during the offseason. They include Calum Hill, a junior transfer from the University of Louisiana-Monroe, and freshmen Tom Kerkvliet, Brent Grant and Trevor Yu.
ALL-ACADEMIC: Current Beaver golfers Brian Jung, Conner Kumpula and Chris Tedesco all received Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention recognition last season.
Jung, a senior from Coquitlam, British Columbia, was selected Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention for the third straight year for his 3.29 GPA in business marketing.
Kumpula, a junior from Albany, Ore., earned Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention honors in his first eligible year for a 3.30 GPA in pre-industrial engineering.
Tedesco, a senior from Gig Harbor, Wash., was named Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention for the first time for his 3.36 GPA in business finance.
