
Beavers Rise To No. 15 In Bennett Rankings

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State's season-opening victories over Marquette and Michigan State paid immediate dividends on Monday, as the Beavers moved up substantially in two college soccer Top 25 polls.
The Beavers (2-0-0) rose five spots to No. 15 in the Bennett Rankings, conducted by HeroSports.com. They also advanced seven spots to No. 19 in the College Soccer News poll.
OSU defeated Marquette 1-0 in overtime on Aug. 28, and then edged Michigan State 1-0 on Aug. 30 to cap a spectacular weekend at the annual Hensor-Zaher Classic at Lorenz Field. Michigan State was ranked 13th in the preseason CSN rankings.
The first weekly rankings by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America will be released on Tuesday. OSU was ranked 34th in the NSCAA preseason poll, Michigan State 9th.
The Beavers return to action against Vermont at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Merlo Field in Portland. The Catamounts are coached by Jesse Cormier, an OSU assistant from 2001-03.
