August 21, 2015 | Men's Soccer
CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men's soccer team will open the 2015 season ranked No. 26 in the College Soccer News Preseason Poll, the site announced this week. The Beavers also came in at No. 20 in the Bennett Rank preseason rankings, and are receiving votes in the NSCAA Coaches' Poll.
The Beavers are set to begin an exciting 2015 campaign on Aug. 28, when they host Marquette in the opening match of the Hensor/Zaher Classic. Oregon State will follow that up by taking on No. 9 Michigan State on Sunday, Aug. 30.
Sophomores Timmy Mueller and Nolan Wirth were both named to the Pac-12 Preseason Team earlier this month.
Oregon State is coming off the best season in school history, as the Beavers made the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2003 and earned their first ever postseason win. Overall Oregon State ended the season 12-8-1, and posted numerous end-of-year awards, including Pac-12 Player of the Year Khiry Shelton and Freshman of the Year Timmy Mueller. Shelton and Will Seymore were both selected in this year's MLS SuperDraft.
