CORVALLIS – Former Oregon State men's soccer player Alan Gordon has been called up to join the US Men's National Team for the knockout rounds of the Gold Cup, US Soccer announced earlier this week.
Gordon, a current member of the Los Angeles Galaxy, also earned a call-up for the 2013 Gold Cup, after making his international debut in a 2012 friendly against Antigua and Barbuda. He has scored four goals in 20 appearances for the Galaxy this season, as he continues a pro career the included a pair of MLS Cup titles.
Gordon was a two-time All-Pac-10 honoree in his time at Oregon State, scoring 26 goals in his career. He led the Beavers in scoring in 2002 and 2003, and remains tied for the school record with goals in five consecutive games. Gordon recorded two hat-tricks in his collegiate career, and held the OSU senior record for points in a season with 25, until Khiry Shelton surpassed him with 32 this season. His 34-points in the 2002 season still ranks second in Beaver history. For his efforts, Gordon earned College Soccer News All-America honors in 2002.
