CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men's soccer team will look to make its second-straight NCAA Tournament run with a 2015 schedule that features nine home games, head coach Steve Simmons and the Pac-12 Conference announced today.
Overall, the Beavers' regular season slate features nine games against opponents that made the NCAA Tournament last season, and 10 games televised on Pac-12 Networks.
Oregon State will kick things off on Aug. 28 and 30 by hosting Marquette and Michigan State in a pair of TV matches. The Beavers will follow that up by hosting Vermont a week later for their third-straight Pac-12 Networks appearance.
The Beavers will hit the road for the first time when they head to Pittsburgh, Pa. for the Duquesne Invitational. Oregon State will try to garner a repeat performance of its 2014 win over Duquesne on Sept. 11, before facing Cornell on Sept. 13 for the first time since the Beavers topped the Big Red 5-0 in 2004.
Three Northwest opponents will close out OSU's nonconference schedule, beginning with a trip to Portland on Sept. 17. The Beavers will stay on the road for a Tuesday matchup with Gonzaga on Sept. 22, before it returns home to close out its nonconference schedule in a televised match against Seattle U on Sept. 27.
Oregon State will open Pac-12 play with home games against the Southern California schools. The Beavers will take on UCLA on Oct. 2 in a televised contest, before it hosts San Diego State on Oct. 4. The pair of home contest will be followed by three-straight road TV games, as the Beavers head to California, Stanford and Washington to wrap up the first half of conference play.
The Beavers will close out the month of October by hosting Stanford on Oct. 30, and will open November by hosting Cal in a game that will air on Pac-12 Networks. A Southern California swing will wrap up Oregon State's road slate, as the Beavers travel to UCLA and San Diego State.
Oregon State will host Senior Day on Thursday Nov. 12, when the Huskies make their return trip to Corvallis.
The Beavers bring an exciting group into the 2015 season, after earning their first NCAA Tournament win in 2014. Oregon State returns last season's Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Timmy Mueller, who is coming off an 11-goal, two assist season. The forward will be joined up top by fellow sophomore Jordan Jones, who found the net eight times in 2014, including scoring the game-winner in the Beavers' postseason win over Denver.
OSU also brings an outstanding recruiting class into the upcoming campaign, as the group was ranked sixth in the nation by Top Drawer Soccer. To read more about the incoming recruiting class, click here.
