Schaer Moves Into Fifth At OSU in 800m
April 19, 2014 | Women's Track & Field
The day's performances were led by the redshirt sophomore Schaer, who finished ninth in the 800 with a time of 2:11.91 to move into fifth on Oregon State's all-time list. That mark was a second and a half better than the 2:13.23 she ran at the same facility on March 22.
Morgan Anderson (11th) and Haley Hunt (22nd) also ran personal bests in the same event, with Anderson crossing in 2:13.25 and Hunt in 2:18.94.
In addition to the 800, Adrienne Demaree followed in Kinsey Gomez's footsteps in the 10K and put together a strong effort in her first career race at the distance. The sophomore ran 36:26.84, good for sixth in OSU history and fourth place on Friday. She was right behind senior Sandra Martinez's 36:23.21.
Rachel Picknell and Annie Sidor led the Beavers in the field events. Picknell, who competed in both the shot put and hammer on Friday, threw the former 42' 11”. She placed eighth on the evening and that PR moved the sophomore into ninth in the school's all-time annals, surpassing Julia McInnis' 42' 9.75” from 1982 and Joan Tavernia's 42' 7.50” from 1979.
Sidor's 11' 3.75” pole vault clearance bested her previous high by two inches and placed ninth on Friday. She reached the mark on her first attempt. Teammate Helen Ann Haun tied for 10th, reaching the same height, but on her second go-around.
Full results from Friday's action can be found here. Oregon State's Saturday competitors begin at 5 p.m. with Picknell, Melissa Ausman and Kayla Fleskes in the discus. Live results can be viewed on goducks.com.
