Beavers Continue Pac-12 Play at No. 3/3 Washington

SCOUTING WASHINGTON: Washington is undefeated this season, with a record of 8-0-3. The Huskies are coming off a road draw with No. 1/1 California on Sunday. Washington is led by Taylor Peay, who is tied for the Pac-12 lead with six goals. Darwin Jones has tallied three goals and four assists, while Josh Heard has three goals and two assists. Justin Schmidt and Michael Harris have two goals and four assists apiece. Goalkeeper Ryan Herman has allowed five goals in 10 appearances, while making 23 saves.
SERIES HISTORY: The Beavers are 11-26-2 all time against the Huskies, including a 5-14-0 record in road contests. Oregon State's last win over the Washington came in 2011, when the Beavers beat the Huskies 2-1 in Corvallis. Oregon State's last win at Washington was a 3-2 victory in 2009.
KNOCKING-OUT NONCONFERENCE: The Beavers closed out nonconference play with seven victories, the most an Oregon State team has tallied since the 2002 squad won nine nonconference matches. Oregon State won six non-league games in both 2003 and 2004. The Beavers' all-time record for nonconference wins in a season in which a conference slate was played came in 1994, when Oregon State won 10 nonconference games. The Beavers won 11 games in their inaugural 1988 season, a year in which Oregon State played no conference matches.
RECKING BALL: Junior forward Mike Reckmeyer made a his presence felt last week, as he recorded a goal and an assist in the Beavers' first two conference games of the campaign. The Lincoln, Neb., native found the net against No. 1/1 California on Thursday, scoring for the first time since he put one past the goalie on Sept. 2, 2012 against Manhattan. Overall, Reckmeyer has appeared in nine games this season, tallying one goals and two assists.
PROTECTING THE FORT: Oregon State set a new school record when it recorded its sixth-straight home victory to open the season against Northwest Christian on Sept. 27. The Beavers previous mark of five was set over the span of the 1988 and 1989 seasons. Oregon State will look to add to that number on Oct. 18, when it returns home to face No. 10/9 UCLA. The longest home unbeaten streak in Beaver history is 10 games, played over the course of the 2004 and 2005 seasons.
MAGIC MATT: Sophomore goalkeeper Matt Bersano has made a strong start to the 2013 season, allowing just 11 goals through the first 11 games. Bersano has recorded four clean sheets already this season, matching his total from 2012. The Oregon State net-minder leads the Pac-12 Conference with 48 saves, after finishing atop the league with 79 saves last season.
