Game Notes
• Weather at game time was 65 degrees and mostly sunny. Wind was 13 mph from the Northwest.
• The game aired on FX. Drew Bontadelli was the play-by-play announcer while Tony Hill was analyst. Michelle Salvatore was the sideline reporter.
• Wisconsin won the coin toss and elected to receive to start the game. Oregon State kicked off from the East end zone.
• Oregon State captains were Andrew Seumalo, Jordan Poyer, Markus Wheaton and Jordan Jenkins.
• Oregon State wore orange uniform tops with white pants. Wisconsin was dressed in all white with red trim.
• Attendance for the game was 42,189.
• The game marked the first between a Big Ten team and the Beavers at Reser Stadium since OSU defeated Iowa, 33-19, in 1971.
• Wisconsin, ranked 13th, marked the Beavers' highest ranked non-league team to play at Reser Stadium since No. 13 BYU on Oct. 8, 1977.
• The mother of the late Fred Thompson, Cora, was at the 50-yard line for the coin toss. Thompson, a freshman in 2011, passed away in December.
Oregon State Team Notes
• The win marked the Beavers' first over a ranked opponent since defeating No. 20 USC, 36-7, on Nov. 20, 2010.
• The win is the Beavers' first over a Big Ten Conference team since a 17-14 victory at Minnesota on Oct. 7, 1978. It's the first win over a Big Ten team at Reser Stadium since defeating Iowa, 33-19, on Sept. 19, 1971.
• The victory marked the Beavers' first against a ranked non-conference team since OSU defeated No. 19 Pittsburgh, 3-0, in the 2008 Sun Bowl.
• The game marked the latest start to a season for Oregon State since the Beavers began their 1989 campaign on Sept. 9. The late start to the 2012 season was necessitated after Hurricane Isaac forced the postponement of OSU's game against Nicholls State Sept. 1.
• Offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh coached from the press box for the first time since 1997.
• The Beavers held Wisconsin scoreless in the first half. That's a first for the Beavers since OSU held No. 20 USC scoreless in the first half on November 20, 2010 - a stretch of 14 games.
• Oregon State held Wisconsin to 64 first-half yards. The last Oregon State opponent with less than 100 in the first half was California on Oct. 30, 2010 (67 total). The Beavers won that game 35-7.
• The Beavers last held an opponent to less than 100 yards rushing in 2011 against Washington State (83 yards). Wisconsin gained just 35.
Oregon State Individual Notes
• Sean Mannion passed for 276 yards - his 12th consecutive game with at least 200, all of which have been starts. His last game with less than 200 came against Wisconsin last season - he threw for 143.
• Rudolf Fifita's first-quarter sack was the Beavers' first of the 2012 season and the second of his career.
• Trevor Romaine's second-quarter 43-yard field goal was his fourth career of 40 or more yards.
• Jordan Poyer's forced fumble in the second quarter was the third of his career. The play occurred on a sack, the second of Poyer's career.
• Colby Prince caught four passes for 42 yards, surpassing his previous game high of 21 yards last season against Sacramento State. He came into the game with 89 yards on 14 catches for his career.
• Brandin Cooks' third-quarter 20-yard touchdown reception was the Beavers' first of the season and the fourth of his career.
• Dylan Wynn forced his first career fumble in the third quarter. Scott Crichton recovered it for the second recovery of his career.
• Storm Woods played in his first career game and rushed for 36 carries on nine attempts.
• Markus Wheaton caught eight passes, giving him 144 for his career, which moves him into eighth place in OSU history.
• Brandin Cooks caught a career-best six passes. His 80 yards trailed his best of 90 against BYU in 2011.
• Tyrequek Zimmerman tied for the OSU team lead with seven tackles; he had eight overall in 2011.
• D.J. Welch set a career-high with seven tackles - he had 18 in 2011.
