Beaver Swimming Completes Orange and Black Meet

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State swim team hosted the Orange and Black meet Saturday to gear up for the 2011 season. The swimmers were divided into two teams and then dualed against each other in a meet format.
The Black team came away with the win today with 142 total team points. The Orange team came in second with 111 total team points.
The Black team was highlighted by the freshmen performances today from Dakota Bloch and Shelby Webber. Bloch and Webber both won individual events during today's meet.
Webber competed in the 200 yard medley relay, 100 yard breaststroke, 100 yard freestyle, 200 yard IM and the 200 yard freestyle relay. She and her teammates placed first in both relays finishing with times of 1:48.62 in the medley relay and 1:40.18 in the freestyle relay. She won the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 53.48 and placed second in the 100 yard breaststroke and 200 yard IM.
Bloch competed in the 1,000 yard freestyle, 200 yard freestyle and the 500 yard freestyle during today's meet. She won the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:31.78. She won the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:10.87 and placed second in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.15.
"I am pleased with everyone's performances today," head coach Larry Liebowitz said. "We are way ahead of where we were last year at this time."
The Beavers will return to action Friday Oct. 7 when they host the 2010 NCAA Champions California at 12:00 p.m. at Dixon Recreation Center.
