Game Notes
• The game aired live on Versus Network with Ron Thulin doing play-by-play, while Glenn Parker did color. Lewis Johnson was the sideline analyst.
• Oregon State captains at the start of the game were Alex Linnenkohl, Dwight Roberson, James Rodgers and Uani 'Unga.
• Arizona won the coin toss and elected to defer to the second half. Oregon State received the kickoff and defended the south end zone.
• Oregon State wore white jerseys with black pants – the first time that combination has been worn in 2010.
Oregon State Team Notes
• The Beavers opened Pacific-10 Conference play with two wins for the first time since 2003.
• Oregon State won for the fifth consecutive time at Arizona. OSU has now won 10 out of 12 against the Wildcats.
• Oregon State head coach Mike Riley won the 67th career game at Oregon State, placing him seven behind Lon Stiner's (1933-48) program-record 73.
• Oregon State improves to 39-14 (.736) in the months of October, November and December since 2004. In October alone, OSU is 18-6 (.750) dating back to the 2004 season.
• The Beavers have now defeated at least one top 25 team in each of the last six seasons. OSU has played three teams ranked in the top 10 this season.
• Suaesi Tuimaunei's 2nd quarter interception is the fourth red zone turnover the Beavers have created in 2010.
• Ryan Katz's 48-yard touchdown pass to Markus Wheaton in the 2nd quarter is OSU's longest pass play of the season.
• Katz's 393-yard passing performance is OSU's first 300-yard game since the 2009 Civil War. By throwing for 393 yards, he becomes just the seventh OSU quarterback in school history to throw for 350 yards or more in one game. There have now been 24 such games In school history.
• OSU had its first two 100-yard receivers in tonight's game with James Rodgers covering 102 yards via pass in the first half. Markus Wheaton joined him in the second half and tallied a team-leading 113.
• The Beavers committed their first turnover of the season – an interception in the end zone in the 2nd quarter. OSU was the last team in the nation to suffer a turnover.
• Brennan Olander blocked Arizona's PAT in the 3rd quarter. It was OSU's first blocked PAT since James Dockery blocked one against BYU in the 2009 Las Vegas Bowl.
Oregon State Individual Notes
• Jacquizz Rodgers entered the game ranked 32nd all-time in Pac-10 history in rushing and tallied 83 yards against the Wildcats, moving him into 25th all-time in league history with 3,174 yards rushing, supplanting Reggie Bush. Next up: - 24 (Wendell Tyler, 3,181); 23 (Karim Abdul-Jabbar, 3,182); 22 (DeShaun Foster, 3,194); 21 (Freeman McNeil, 3,195); 20 Mike Garrett, 3,221); 19 (J.R. Redmond, 3,223); 18 (Marshawn Lynch, 3,230); 17 (Derek Loville, 3,296).
• Ryan Katz's 393 yards passing is a career high. It is the 10th-best single-game passing total in Oregon State history.
• James Rodgers has made a reception in 33 straight games in which he has played – he entered the game tied for the fourth-longest streak in the nation.
• James Rodgers' 1st quarter touchdown is the 16th of his career moving him into sole possession of fifth place in OSU history. On the same play, James Rodgers became the sixth player in OSU history to surpass 2,000 receiving yards in his career. With his 102 receiving yards, James now has 2,064 in his career, moving into fifth on OSU's all-time list.
• Will Darkins' 1st quarter reception was the first of his career.
• Suaesi Tuimaunei's 2nd quarter interception was the first of his career.
• Jacquizz Rodgers' fourth-quarter rushing touchdown gave him at least one in all five games this season. He has scored a rushing touchdown in 25 of his career 29 games.
