OREGON STATE HEAD COACH Craig Robinson
On the fatigue the Beavers experienced:
"That's what you saw out there, you saw a fatigued group of guys. That's why I wasn't going crazy over on the sideline, because they are exhausted and rightly so. It's been one heck of a week for these guys and I was so proud that given how tired they were, they were just sticking with what we do. I am so happy they were tough enough to gut this game out given the fatigue factor."
On the confidence level of this team:
"That's what playing well does for you. When you play well, win or lose you feel better about yourself and you feel better about your chances. If you noticed, we never got out of sorts, even when they tied it up. Half the time I wasn't even calling the plays, it was Rickey (Claitt) and Calvin (Haynes) that were deciding what we were playing, that's confidence. Shoot, I'm going to be out of a job with those guys out there."
On the recent performances of Roeland Schaftenaar:
"It all comes together. We are better because he is better, and he is better because he has more confidence. He is more confident because we are all becoming more confident and better at what we are doing every single day. It's a treat to see because of what these guys have been going through the past couple years. There is an exuberance there that is well deserved. They have put the work in to get better."
On the upcoming Civil War:
"It's exciting, it's nerve-wracking. I'm glad we are going in how we are going in, having won three games. I got a taste of it on the road. I was on the road in Fresno when the football Civil War was played and we went to a restaurant and watched it together as a team. I want to be excited, but I am very tense about it because I want us to play well. I know there are going to be a lot of people here, I know there is a lot at stake."
OREGON STATE SOPHOMORE Calvin Haynes
On any emotional letdown:
"I think our legs are a little bit weary from the trip back and the two games over the weekend. Other than that I don't think it was a letdown, we just need to get ourselves going.
On Coach Robinson's halftime words:
"He knows we are tired and a little sore. He just told us to let the defense carry the offense. Give 110% on the defensive end and we can pass the ball around on offense and get easy layups."
OREGON STATE JUNIOR Roeland Schaftenaar
On the difficulty of a Monday game after a weekend road trip:
"I don't think it's as much of a letdown as we just got back yesterday, obviously we are a little tired. But this was just another team we need to play. It doesn't matter who we play, it is hard coming off of two games."
On your current hot streak:
"I'm just trying to be aggressive, trying to get to the basket and when I can't, find some open teammates."
On your approach to the Civil War:
"It's a big game for us, that's about it. We are excited to play in front of a full house and we hope everyone comes out for it."
