BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - - The Oregon State men's soccer team lost 3-1 to No. 1 Indiana in Bloomington Sunday afternoon at the 2004 adidas/IU Credit Union Classic, bringing the Beavers' record to 1-2-0. Indiana's Danny O'Rourke scored the Hoosiers' first goal early in the game with a long lead from midfielder Josh Tudela during the 18th minute. The goal was the only score at the half for either team. OSU came back in the 50th minute with its only goal of the game by forward Ryan Johnson. Johnson scored on a corner kick by teammate Bryan Jordan, tying the score at 1-1. "I thought we played well in the first half," OSU head coach Dana Taylor said. "Our defenders played great. "Ryan Johnson came back quick in the second half with the game-tying goal. We worked hard to even the score, but then as a team we let Indiana back in." Less than a minute after Johnson's goal, Indiana came back to score on a header of its own from defender Julian Dieterle to make it 2-1. Forward Jacob Peters scored with four minutes left in the second half, sealing the victory for Indiana. "Even after Indiana came back to make it 2-1, I thought we were still in it until they scored their third goal," Taylor said. "I'm proud of the team effort. We went hard after Indiana and pressed them. We had some very good individual performances. The team is in-tune, and I'm excited to see how this team is progressing." OSU keeper Jason Mariner made all of his seven saves during the second half. OSU forwards Brett Gardner and Robbie Findley were both selected for the All-Tournament Team. Findley had three shots against Indiana, two of which were shots on goal, and an assist in Friday's game against Notre Dame. OSU continues on the road with a match Friday in the Bradley Classic against Southwest Missouri State in Peoria, Ill.
